A dental bridge replaces missing teeth with false teeth. The bridge is attached to the real teeth on either side of the gap left by the missing teeth. Bridges are usually made of porcelain or metal, or a mixture of the two. They are fixed in place and, for some people, are an alternative to dentures or dental implants.
Adjacent tooth preparation process: your dentist will usually file down one of the adjacent teeth on either side of the gap. Your dentist will then take a mould to make your bridge. You might be given a temporary bridge while waiting for your permanent bridge to be ready. If so, that is taken out once your permanent bridge has been prepared. The permanent bridge is put in place when ready, usually takes approximately 2 weeks.

You’ll need to brush and floss under your bridge with fluoride toothpaste, as usually recommended for natural teeth. We recommend you to come in for a regular check up every 6 months so that your dentist can check the condition of your bridge.
