Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to revolumise the face. Lost volume may cause folds, wrinkle, flattening or shriveling of an area. Facial volume loss is one of the key factors in the ageing process, and dermal fillers can help to replenish this lost volume and rejuvenate the face. Importantly, it can be used for non-surgical facial enhancement.

How Do Injectables Work?

Dermal Filler are small injections of gel, typically made up of hylauronic acid, which can be found between cells in our bodies helping things stay together. These fill in wrinkles and add volume to soft tissue. The process involves injecting a product to add volume and hydration to the desired area. After the procedure, the gel binds with the water in your skin and provides natural volume to smooth wrinkles. The gel also blends with adjoining tissues and allows other nutritive elements, like oxygen, glucose and hormones, to pass between fragments of the gel. The result is instantly fuller, revitalised and plumper skin. The process is performed by our dentist, Dr Lavonne Kong.

Dermal fillers are administered using a very fine needle or cannula. Depending on the improvement you are trying to achieve, the filler will be injected along wrinkles and deep facial folds, or into hollowed out areas of the face that have lost volume due to age. The procedure itself should take approximately 15 minutes.

Most patients only experience mild discomfort. As the needles used for dermal fillers are very fine, the amount of pain experienced by patients is minimal and the procedure does not require anaesthesia.

The duration depends on several factors such as skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and age; depending on the individual, the area and the types of fillers being used. Follow-up treatments are normally recommended around every 6-18 months, making this a highly cost-effective treatment. Generally it can last around 6-18 months.
