Suitability, treatment time and results vary between patients.
Invisalign is a series of custom-made clear aligners worn over your teeth. Each set forms part of a planned sequence of tooth movements. You remove the aligners for meals and cleaning, then put them back in as instructed.
The aligners are discreet, but visible at close range. Treatment needs a clinical assessment, consistent wear and ongoing supervision by your dentist.
Clear aligners may be suitable for a range of alignment and bite concerns, from mild changes to more complex movements where clinically appropriate.
Teeth that overlap or sit unevenly.
Spaces between neighbouring teeth.
Upper front teeth overlap the lower teeth more than expected.
Lower front teeth sit ahead of the upper teeth.
Some upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth.
Front teeth do not meet when the back teeth are together.
These illustrations explain bite concerns; they do not establish suitability. Your teeth, jaw relationships and oral health need assessment. Some concerns need braces, other treatment or specialist care.

All photos displayed are cases performed by Dr Lavonne Kong or her team at Doncaster Hill Dental. All dental procedures carry individual risks and benefits. Individual results can vary. You have the right to seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
Your plan is individual. These are the main stages of care described by our practice.
Discuss your concerns and have your teeth, gums and bite assessed. Your dentist explains suitable options and alternatives.
If Invisalign is suitable, digital scans record your teeth and bite to support planning.
Your dentist plans the proposed movements and discusses the estimated duration, aligners required and fees.
Custom aligners are made. At fitting, your dentist checks them and explains how to wear and care for them.
Your dentist checks progress and advises when to change aligners. Appointment timing is tailored to your plan.
Retainers help maintain tooth positions. Follow the wear schedule and care advice provided after treatment.

Digital dentistry
Digital scans help us plan tooth movements and explain the proposed treatment. A computer preview can make the discussion easier to follow; it is a simulation, not a guaranteed result.
We also use Dental Monitoring alongside Invisalign. It supports remote progress review and communication with your dentist. We will explain how it fits into your care and when an appointment at the practice is needed.
Your local dental team
We discuss your concerns, assess your dental health and explain your options, including alternatives to Invisalign.
Principal dentist Dr Lavonne Kong holds a BDSc (Melb) and Postgrad Dip. Dig. Ortho. (UK), as listed on our team page. Meet our dental team and learn about their approach to care.
Planning, progress reviews and advice come from a local team you can contact with questions along the way.
Invisalign fees depend on the complexity and duration of treatment and the movements required. After assessment, your dentist will explain the proposed plan and associated fees so you can consider your options.
We offer payment plans. Ask our team about the options and terms available for your treatment.
Both use planned tooth movement. The choice depends on your bite, oral health and ability to follow treatment instructions.
Clear, removable trays. Take them out for meals, brushing and flossing. They need to be worn for the prescribed hours each day.
Brackets and wires stay attached throughout treatment. Cleaning needs care around the brackets, and some foods need to be avoided or adapted. Braces may suit different or more complex movements.

If your concern is tooth colour or shape rather than alignment, porcelain veneers or teeth whitening address different concerns. Your dentist can explain their benefits and limitations alongside orthodontic options.
Orthodontic treatment has risks as well as potential benefits. Discomfort, mouth irritation, decay and gum problems can occur. Tooth roots can shorten during orthodontic movement, and teeth can move again after treatment, especially without prescribed retainer wear.
Keeping teeth and aligners clean, attending reviews and following your care instructions matters. Your dentist will discuss the risks relevant to your mouth and whether other treatment is needed before starting.
Practical answers to help you prepare for your consultation.
There is no single fee for every patient. The complexity and duration of your treatment influence the cost. Your dentist will discuss your plan and fees after assessment. Ask what is included, including reviews, extra aligners and retainers.
The timeframe varies with the movements needed and how your teeth respond. Your dentist will discuss an estimate during planning and review progress along the way. Consistent aligner wear matters.
Pressure or discomfort can occur, especially when starting treatment or a new set of aligners. Experiences vary. Contact your dentist if discomfort is persistent or concerning.
Typically 20–22 hours a day, following your dentist’s instructions. Remove them for eating, cleaning and drinks other than water. Change to your next set only when advised.
It may help some overbites. Your dentist must assess whether the concern relates to tooth position, jaw relationships or both. Some cases need braces, other treatment or specialist care.
It may help either concern. The amount of space or crowding, your bite and oral health influence the recommended approach. An examination is needed to work out what is realistic.
Adults can have clear aligner treatment. Suitability depends on your teeth, gums, bite and treatment needs rather than age alone. Any active dental or gum problems may need care first.
Remove your aligners for meals and drinks other than water. Clean your teeth and aligners as instructed before putting them back in. Keep the aligners safely in their case while eating.
Retainers help maintain your teeth in their new positions. Teeth can move again, so follow the retainer type, wear schedule and review advice your dentist provides. Retainers also need cleaning and may need replacement.
Review timing depends on your treatment plan and progress. Dental Monitoring can support checks between visits; your dentist will explain when you need to attend the practice. Contact us if an aligner breaks or does not fit as expected.
