What is root canal therapy?
How Do I Know If I Need A Root Canal Therapy?
- You are in pain as bacteria has already eaten up parts of your tooth and you would like to save your tooth.
- You may have abscess or swelling from this problematic tooth.
- You may experience some pain when chewing and drinking hot drink.
- You may have pain that keeps you up at night.
If you are in pain, your dentist will get you out of pain at your first appointment so that you can make your informed decision when you are ready to finish off the rest of the root canal treatment. You will have to come back for another 2 long appointments to allow for the root canals to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Once the canals are sterile, they are then filled with a rubber-based material which is heated and compressed into the root
canals to permanently seal it. Root-filled teeth are weaker and more brittle than vital teeth, it is highly recommended to restore with a crown to provide artificial strength so you will be able to use this tooth again.
To avoid a toothache in the future, it is very important to have your regular dental check-up and clean every 6 months so that your dentist can check and prevent any issues that may occur. Book yourself in for your regular dental check-up and clean with us.
